is AWESOME!
It's The Wire, Jimmy/Stringer Bell, and not only is that part great, the first part is Jimmy and Kima drinking in a bar and talking about the case and the voices are PERFECT and I am so pleased. :)

I hate Christmas. I hate that apparently blood obligates you to call people your family. I hate that I can't leave right now. I hate that if I have any feelings, I'm supposed to feel guilty about them because they make my mother ~sad~ and we can't have that. I'm trying hard to go zen, but cuddling a cat is hard when she's wearing a cone of shame.

Congratulations on not getting drunk on wine in front of your parents, self!
But seriously, HOW ELSE AM I SUPPOSED TO MAKE IT THROUGH CHRISTMAS?
If anyone is in Alexandria, you need to call me post haste. First round's on me.

| Doom! |
[16 Dec 2009|06:14pm] |
So, it's been a while...
I went to the Lady Gaga show when she was in town, that was two weeks ago. It was awesome.
I baked a lot of cookies and had some folks over for cookies and eggnog and the like.
We put up our trees, and they look pretty awesome.
I made Ross and my sister watch the Charlie Brown Christmas, which neither of them had seen. How? How had they not seen it? Seriously?
I am almost finished with my holiday gift finding. I now am in the category of optional gift finding, and baking cookies for people who will want cookies.
Ross is working on stuff in NY this week, so I am trying to work hard too.
I think I will try to leave here by 7 tonight, so I can do some baking. Yesterday was very productive, today less so...
Alright, more soon. Also, I did see a raccoon walking home this week, it was awesome and did not try to eat me...

Saw "Sleep No More". Was crazy awesome. Also, seriously creepy. The bit where I was alone with the male witch was the most freaked out I've been in a long time. In a good way. Got a joker and some slightly bloody hands out of it. I highly recommend it to all you Boston-area fish; I could easily go back several more times. It fits together really well. Great use of space, atmosphere, music, blurring the boundary between audience and performance. (Went with Sho and Sam, incidentally. Sho had already been and is going again tomorrow.)
Had some Tibetan food beforehand at a place near by (in Brookline). Good, though not quite up to the level Sunday's Mu Que Ca.
Now, to try to normalize my sleep schedule a bit.

| Midnight Cranberry Sauce |
[14 Dec 2009|11:56pm] |
|
The cranberry sauce I made for Maya's party came out awesome, and Tegan or someone wanted a recipe, so I'm going to try to recreate it here. It was derived from the internet with some adventure. I think I'll go for a literal rendition.
Midnight Cranberry Sauce
Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup orange juice
- 20 tablespoons brown sugar (things the Grotto lacks: sane measuring cups)
- 10 tablespoons normal sugar, plus a bit more
- 1 12-ounce bag fresh cranberries and most of a 12-ounce bag frozen cranberries
- 1 small container of fresh blueberries
- Cinnamon to taste
Procedure:
- Bring liquids to a boil, stirring in and dissolving both sugars.
- Put in cranberries and try to bring back to a boil. This is a little bizarre because you have so much more cranberry than liquid it's hard to judge boilingishness. Also, you didn't plan ahead enough for the frozen cranberries to be much thawed.
- Simmer for a while. I was originally going for 10 minutes, but went for a while longer than that, I think. Cranberries should mostly pop with a sound less bold than popcorn. Maya won't be able to hear it.
- Don't worry if it looks really liquidy; it'll thicken as it cools.
- When most cranberries are popped, add blueberries and cinnamon and additional sugar to taste.
- Remove from heat and let cool completely at room temperature. It's rabid midnight, so feel free to fudge the "completely" if you want to go to bed.
- Put in the fridge and refrigerate until ready to serve.

| The Big Shill |
[14 Dec 2009|01:55pm] |
benchilada has set up the Big Shill again this year for people to promote their art for sale. Go check it out! Go pimp out your own stuff if you can!
For your own purchasing pleasure here, this is a reminder that I have comics for sale, as well as original art and prints at my etsy store. Prices range from $5 to $50. $5 for comics. $50 for an 11"x14" original.
For example, there are some awesome He-Man and She-Ra linocut block prints that can be had there!

I also have Sky Cat Battle and Sky Cat's Kingdom posters as well as two other prints from my sketchbooks available over at my imagekind store. They are print on demand giclee prints. I can personally vouch for the high quality of the prints. Even the cheapest paper they have is super thick and nice. Luxurious, even!
You should really consider getting a Sky Cat print for practically everyone you know.
